The Storm Intense features a modified version of the popular RAD core, this one named Rad-E, with the R3S pearl coverstock from the Snap Lock. This ball compliments my Code Red perfectly (which I use sanded at 1000-2000), as it is much cleaner than the Code Red and stronger from the break point to the pocket with such a strong pearl coverstock. It is also stronger and more angular than my pin down Code Black at 2000, fitting perfectly between these two balls. This ball is one of the special balls, as the core/cover are a great match. The Rad-E core is a little wider at the top which helps the strong cover not lose energy too quickly. The result is great, strong continuation!
I have two balls shown below with different layouts. My numbers are LH, 300 RPM, 16.5 MPH speed, 60 degrees rotation and 15 degrees tilt. I can use the pin down on anything from a house shot to a tougher sport shot with a little play, depending on surface. I’ve used it primarily in box finish and at 2000. The pin up gives me an even stronger move off the break point, but is a little too strong for house conditions. It will match up best when the pin down labors or on a longer sport pattern when applying a little surface.
If you need a strong asymmetric pearl that will drive through the pins the Intense will be a great choice for you!
