Storm Night Road Review
The Storm Night Road features the ReX solid cover and the proven Thunder core. This statement summarizes the intent of the ball.
” A technical tour de force, the Inverted Fe2 weight block has historically had a higher RG orientation. The higher the RG, the more resistant the ball will be to changing direction as it travels down the lane. This promotes a cleaner shape through the front part of the lane with a later transition down lane. This compact powerplant of a weight block utilizes more coverstock material. The result? More ecient power transfer to the pins at the point of impact. “
This ball will be a couple balls down from the recently reviewed Storm Super Nova.
Storm Night Road Layout and Surface
I’ve thrown this ball for a few weeks now with a layout of 5 x 3 x 3, which puts the pin above my bridge.
I’ve used multiple surfaces with this ball. I like the ReX cover with some surface, which still gets through the front of the lane well but is stronger in the mid-lane. This is a very aggressive cover with more surface. I tested this ball primarily at 1000 Abralon.
Results
The Storm Night Road is a very smooth rolling ball with this layout and surface. I’ve found the ReX cover to be very clean in the front of the lane with any surface, even the 1000 Abralon.
This fits in my arsenal as a fresh controlled symmetric ball or a second or third ball after my Infinite PhysiX. The Infinite also has the ReX cover, and I also frequently use that ball at 1000 Abralon. It’s a fantastic ball on any pattern where you need the ball to get through the front but still get a strong, continuous to strong motion down the lane. The core really helps get the ball down the lane, delaying where the ball slows down so that you get a nice strong motion off the break point.
Conclusion
The Storm Night Road is designed to be used when you need more length. It fits somewhere just past the middle of an arsenal in length. I have this ball closer to the middle of my arsenal in length by using it at 1000 Abralon. This is a very versatile ball that will fit in anyone’s arsenal when the big asymmetrics balls are too early and the balls like HyRoads still go a little too long.
